There is currently very little education and/or curriculum offered about Alzheimer’s, caretaking for Alzheimer’s patients, or impact on family members and friends. In the United States, more than 5 million people have Alzheimer’s, and there are 3x as many caregivers.

In 2013, 15.5 million caregivers provided an estimated 17.7 billion hours of unpaid care. In New York State alone, 23% of caretakers are under the age of 18.

To date, there is not a single FDA-approved drug that actually slows the progression or degeneration of Alzheimer’s disease.
